Project Overview
Pastel Pet Portraits
Lorraine Gray from Pastel Pet Portraits contacted me for help in redesigning her website. The old website was very dates and not mobile responsive. Having spent years on page 1 of Google for the term ‘pet portraits’ she had over time slipped to page 4. This resulted in a complete lack of enquiries.
I designed a fresh, new look website that was fast loading. A search engine optimisation campaign followed to help build backlinks. A blog page was added to help target a greater number of search terms. Happily the website now ranks on page 1 for many important keywords. Lorraine is now fully booked 6 months into the future.

The Project Brief
Pet services is a very competitive niche in the Manchester area with many existing competitors with a long history and lots of reviews. Mandi wanted to know if it was possible to compete as a new business. The brief was to try and get the website to rank quickly for the main keywords.
The Challenge
The main challenge was the fact that there already a number of existing pet services businesses within Manchester. These businesses were already focusing on many of the main SEO metrics and any new entrant would need to leave no stone unturned in order to compete.
The Process
From Concept to Launch and Beyond
Angel & Rubi Pet Care wanted to try and break into the very competitive pet services niche in Manchester. It took more effort to rank this website than it did other similar websites in other UK locations. However with consistent blogging it is now on page 1 for the main keywords. Mandi has done well to attract lots of new reviews which is helping her to maintain her position.
Initial Consultation
Mandi contacted me after finding some of the other dog walking websites I had designed. Her business had been going a number of months and she did have some clients but urgently needed to attract more to earn enough to continue.
Research and Planning
Research revealed that there were existing businesses who already took search engine optimisation seriously. I was confident however that we could still achieve a page 1 ranking.
Design and Prototyping
Since Mandi already had a logo she wished to use I based the colours of the new website on this logo. The layout was similar to other dog walking websites I’d created.
Ongoing Support and Maintenance
Mandi opted for our monthly plan. This meant there was no large upfront cost but is also means I dedicate a number of hours each month to keep the website updated and monitor and maintain the Google ranking.
